May 16, 2009

Here we are, May 16th, 2009. Spring has officially sprung! God has answered so many prayers of mine that it kinda makes me dizzy. Its hard to make decisions and themn stick by them. Especially when they seem rash and hurtfull. I have learned that when we pray for a change, no matter how large or strange it seems at the time, He will be there and offer it. It's then when I realized that no matter what it is we pray for, he WILL give it to me. It's only then when I realize that half of the time, my will is God's will. It's just hard to see how its given, sometimes.

My garden has become so much more to me than just a "garden". It is ALL my passions in one confined space. I wonder sometimes if there are other women out there that feel the same about their passions. I feel so strongly about color. Its such an important thing in my life. Affection. It could be a hug, wink, or just a phonecall. Knowing I'm on someone else's mind is a big thing for me. I love Jan. She is the biggest dream I ever prayed for. As long as I can remember, I have been praying for the kind of mother that would understand the way I feel. And, if she didn't understand or agree with the way I felt, she didnt judge me. just BELIEVED in me. Jan is my angel. I pray that when I am her age, I am half the woman she is right now.

When I am in my yard, and the sun is checking out my latest work, I feel proud and encouraged. I know how much more needs to be done, but I will always love what is done and thank God, my family and my loving husband for giving me my hearts content..

I think this is a peoni. I'm not sure, but, will find out soon.

This picture was taken only 3 days later. It is still opening more and more. Absolutely gorgeous!

Easter 2009

Easter is today. Beautiful day. The weather is perfect and the Easter Bunny hid eggs all over our yard. The leaves are really starting to show on all our trees

and little things are popping up out of the ground. Some things, I had forgotten I planted. My hosta are emerging and so are my asters. Its so exciting, because a lot of these things I planted last year, they died down almost immediately. Now they are coming alive again and I get a great big smile.

The bearded iris are sprouting their buds ready to show what their beautiful velvety purple petals.

Stained my deck for the first time. when we had it built 2 years ago the contractor sprayed it with some sealant and it looked terrible. So this year I stained it all by hand with nothing but a paintbrush and a cold beer. I'm so excited about how it looks.

I have used this big mossy branch for 2 reasons. The first, I think its a unique trellis for my rose bush, and second, it keeps me from getting to close when I mow or trim.

I have put new energy into my lawn this year. Instead of the usual weed n feed in the spring, I have spread lime and homemade compost. I cant wait to see if there is a difference. Already i noticed the grass is a darker green i have more dandelions than the first 10 years of living here. Dandelions don't really bother me, see, anything that blooms, I'm ok with it. Besides, once the centipede gets a little denser, it will choke out a lot of the weeds.

The Wine bottles are for no other reason than .... COLOR. I figure, until I have a garden exploding with blooms and natural color, they will provide a unique color and decoration to the yard. However, I have had some friends tell me that it looks like a wino here. I can assure you, I have not drank EVERY bottle in my garden. Some, maybe, but most are donations from my wino friends :)
I have so many plans for this corner. Big triangular raised bed with a lot of height and texture. But, for now, i have stained the swing and am using that for a focal point in this corner.

I love moss and ferns. So when this pagoda started growing a little green, I started to encourage it by keeping it misted whenever I'm watering my pretties.
